What is the Hartlepool Food Partnership?
The Hartlepool Food Partnership brings together representatives from the community, food businesses, the voluntary sector, educational institutions and the local authority – who care about the quality, affordability and sustainability of food in their town. By working in partnership with the wider community, a long-term plan is created to make available healthy, affordable and sustainable food.
Many other places have a Food Partnership – Hartlepool’s nearest Partnership being Middlesbrough and Sunderland. A national coalition of charities concerned with food quality and sustainability – Sustainable Food Places (see www.sustainablefoodplaces.org) – have designed a model for Food Partnerships that is considered best practice.
Get Involved!
Food Partnerships work best when lots of people, businesses and charities sign up to the goal of making available healthy affordable and sustainable food. Many people are involved already, by growing their own, buying locally produced food, sharing surpluses, holding events involving food, promoting healthy food & sharing healthy recipes, replacing ultra-processed “food” with nutritious food. Getting involved will encourage more people to do more of these things. To express an interest, simply get in touch with info@hartlepoolfoodpartnership.co.uk.
